The course will focus on the works of writers who wrote in the past hundred years: (Colette, Beauvoir, Duras, Cardinal, Sarraute , Darieussecq , Ernaux.). We will try to find out what the female voice suggests: Are female writers successful in characterizing unique experiences of female subjectivity? Do they offer new strategies that challenge the world of male canonical literature? We will also examine the issue of “écriture féminine” and women writing as it emerges from the texts of feminist theorists (Rich, Cixous, Kristeva, Irigaray). We will address various issues such as mother-daughter relations, female body, women writing, and more.
