This seminar will focus on actual problems that challenge the business world today. The themes discussed will be drawn from the relations between the economic system and the individual, the society and the environment. More specifically, we shall deal with the implications of the nascent field of geo-engineering, which intervenes in atmospheric processes with the purported aim of mitigating global warming; we shall read papers on human-machine interfaces and the way in which they may transform the conception of the self; and we shall demarcate the zones in which technology is powerless with regard to human phenomena like mass migration.
