Course description

According to one definition, Rhetoric is the art of persuasion and speech. In each such act, there are three factors - the sender, the recipient and the message. Traditionally, we examine these factors when they appear in speeches and historical events. However, these three, as set of rhetorical acts, appear at every moment in other places, such as everyday speech, classroom lecture and so on. Most of all, these appear in the context of the mass media: This, as a subject, seeks to convince the target audience, the anonymous recipients, with a specific message. By its very nature, the media has great power and a significant ability to influence the audience. In order to understand in depth the ways in which it manages to do so. For this purpose, the message should be examined not only within the traditional research methods (functional, institutional, etc.) but also as an arena in which a rhetorical act takes place. Examining and investigating the media message using rhetorical tools will help us to get a fuller picture of the media message and its modes of action in the public.
