The course shall deal with various theories and approaches related to literature and literary criticism over the past century. It shall include a literary-historical review through which we will attempt to present the main developments in the field of literary criticism and the terms used by researchers and literary critics in different periods and according to various schools, from the theory of mimesis of the Greek philosophers through the semiology established by Ferdinand de Saussure, Deconstruction, feminism etc. The course shall discuss all these theories in depth and provide the learners with tools to deal with the literary texts systematically and according to the different approaches. Hence, the course shall combine theory and practice
