Course description

The main goal of the course is to provide the students with tools for a critical observation on the Israeli society and economy. The course is based on the Gender Mainstreaming approach and emphasizes the importance of gender as a central category in policy analysis and implementation. In this framework, the course focuses on different aspects of social inequalities in Israel; on questioning of common concept in the public economic debate; on examination of the implications of the national budgets on men and women in Israel; on examination of the labor market from a gender perspective: the gender pay gaps, the gender occupational segregation, the division of paid and unpaid work between women and men and on issues of privatization and unionization.
The course combines academic classes with social activities. The classes during the semester will include theoretical studies along with practical training in preparation for field work.
