Language Change Lab: Israeli Hebrew in a diachronic perspective
The issue of language change has been discussed in linguistics literature. Israeli Hebrew has also been the subject of inquiry in numerous works, researching its transformations from a wide variety of angles. This course addresses the linguistic processes that have occurred within Israeli Hebrew in the past and present. It surveys the tools available to research linguistic change in the modern era.
Seminar participants shall undertake a research project that utilizes materials from various linguistic periods, including recordings, pursuing guided work.
Course requirements: Active participation and submission of a referat paper or seminar
