Course description
This course engages in a comparative study of some of the major myths of the ancient Mediterranean in biblical, Ugaritic, Hittite, Egyptian, Greek, and Roman literature. We shall discuss the unique features of Mediterranean texts in relation to their Mesopotamian counterparts and trace the evolution of some of the ancient myths and mindset that have shaped Western thought.
