Course description

Lea Goldberg is well-loved, even revered as a unique poet whose example in literature is important though not highly influential. The class seeks to examine the various possibilities of reading Lea Goldberg mostly in her poetry but also in the many other forms of her writing, as well as reading the way she was read by the critics. From her arrival in Palestine in the mid-thirties and to this day, we will examine her variation in Hebrew poetry and the way she offers a highly influential model for Israeli culture that has been mostly adopted, but not attributed to her.
