Course description
The Jewish World in the Modern Era
This course deals with the major events that took place in the history of the Jewish People since the mid 18th Century and examine the different ways Jews – as individuals and as a society – faced modernity. Using different sources we will study the changes which occurred in the various Jewish Diasporas and discuss the growth and the development of religious, ideological and political movements which changed the face of Judaism
