Course description
A Thousand Plateaus (1980) is considered to be Deleuze & Guattari's most important and influential book. Through a close reading of the book we will try to answer the question: what is the systematic nature of the philosophical approach proposed by the authors? This will entail some further relevant questions: how does their approach open up new possibilities for thinking, and to what extent is it continuous with the western philosophical tradition? What makes Deleuze & Guattari's relevant for our time? How and even why should a philosophical approach be relevant for its time? Emphasis will be put on the essential relation between society and thought that is expressed in the book.
