Course description
Legalized Families in the Era of Bordered Globalization- Dr. Daphna Hacker
The global era, which allows intense movement of people, goods and messages, presents a complex challenge to the social institution of the family, to family members, to family law and to lawyers. In this course, we will address this challenge while pointing to the ongoing existence of national, class, gender and ethnic borders that still influence the familial biographies of the people all over the world. The course will explore difference legal issues, including marriage and divorce law of mixed couples, fertility tourism, international custody disputes, child abduction, and more.The course will focus on Israeli law but will also discuss conflict of laws, international law, and comparative law.
