Course description
The course discusses aspects of plant domestication in the Neolithic period in the Levant. Following a short survey of the basic information on the domestication of the Near Eastern plant package (wheat, barley, pea, lentil, chickpea and flax), we will discuss cultural and socio-economic aspects of plant domestication and their significance in Neolithization processes. A short discussion will be devoted to further (late) developments in plant domestication and their significance.
