Course description
The course is dealing with the emergence and development of the choice of complex technologies that appear from the proto-historical epochs of the Levant till the Iron Age including the production of plaster, ceramics, metallurgy and glass. The cultural background of each technology and its assumed function will be discussed, together with its first introduction in the archaeological record and assumed development. These will be used in an attempt to interpret the motives for the introduction of each technology, the selection of products and its social and economic roles.
