Course description
In the course, we will study the Institution of Kingship throughout Ancient Near Eastern history. We will get to know different models of kingship and study its various textual and iconographical representations. The course serves as a methodological introduction to the study of Ancient Near Eastern written documents. We will encounter a variety of ancient texts and images, get to know different methods of interpretation, and learn how to utilize ancient textual and iconographical sources to reconstruct the past.
