Course description
1 Semester Unit 


 
 The OBJECTIVE of the course is to present the main characteristics of Competitive Intelligence and to describe how it has become a real management practice that is now developing inside most leading companies in the world (case study analysis of L´Oréal, Kraft, IBM, Shell, Nestle, ALSTOM). Topics that will be presented during the course are:
  • How to gather Competitive Intelligence
  • Counterintelligence techniques
  • How to set up a Competitive Intelligence Unit
  • How to protect the firm´s intelligence
 
Competitive Intelligence tracks the activity of direct and indirect competitors. It is legal and respect code of ethics. It is a kind of radar screen spotting new opportunities or helping avert disasters, enabling the firm to observe its environment and monitor its own development. It is a management tool used by multinational corporations which have built Competitive Intelligence Units.
 
 
This course presents the management of international technology transfer, with illustrations from real life best practice examples. A framework for developing Technology Transfer strategies will be presented and applied in various situations.
