Course description

The course will describe basic phenomena in classical and operant conditioning including, acquisition, extinction, generalization and discrimination, excitatory and inhibitory conditioning, appetitive and aversive conditioning, positive and negative reinforcement, punishment and avoidance. Factors affecting the efficacy of conditioning will be described, including drive, magnitude of reinforcement, delayed reinforcement. The application of the principles of classical and operant conditioning in treating humans will be demonstrated. Finally, the course will present a theoretical analysis of classical and operant conditioning.
