Course description

The seminar will focus on the architecture in Israel in the 20th and the 21st century as a significant part of the elements of local culture (s). In this framework will be constructed an infrastructure for the understanding of architectural concepts and design language. We will look into the relations between architecture and other visual arts and culture, with an emphasis on film. Film, like architecture, is time-space based, and reflects and constructs images of space, society, and culture, as well as a means of their documentation and recollection. Through the lens of architectural narratives and of architecture's and urban reflection in films we will read into the spaces created in Israel/Palestine in the past 100 years, and the means in which they constitutes identities in our society.
