A step by step introduction to the basic film techniques and devices, and how they make meaning: film narrative, cinematography, mise-en-scène (shot composition, depth of field), kinetics and camera motions, editing, sound and its relationships to the image. The course includes a lecture, the screening of extracts from feature films, and tutorials.
