Course description

In Post Humanistic Era, while Power institutions are irrecoverably demolished, the value of "value" (as Nietzsche has rightly predicted) can no longer be erected on a solid basis - objective, social or even heuristic. This situation was deeply inquired by such pillars of classical Humanism as Bergman and Saul Bellow, and in my opinion Kieslowski can be named as the last (and terminal) heir to this lost tradition. The proposed course aims to explore his heroic combat for objectifying "value" and Ethical judgement in Modern nihilistic world, after total reduction to materialistic fragments, focusing on three "dekalogs" (6--8-10) the second part of "the colors trilogy" and "The Double Life of Veronique". The last on the list will be exemplified as Kieslowski's private way to (Aesthetical) salvation.
