Course description
This course explores shifts in the female body performance in the Hollywood action genre as a result of the extensive assimilation of digital technology into films. By focusing on various theoretical and critical texts as well as numerous films and video games, we will examine the changing parameters through which the female body is being considered and constituted heroic. We will discover how the new language of the digital cinema is the key to understanding the image of the "digital woman" – a new form of the female heroic identity embedded in the cultural discourse of the cyber age.
