Adjoining to the historical survey, this course focuses on the subjects of art history through critical reading of key writings. We will intimately read texts concerning the art of the Renaissance and the Baroque, as well as those pertinent to the Modern and Contemporary eras. While centering on the formation of various arguments, we will ask and identify what is a research question; how do writers use different methods to construct their narratives; and how may reading serve for the production of critique.
