Course description
According to Revelation, at the end of the millennium - of the millennium - Satan will be released from prison and will open the last war between the forces of God and the underworld. How did this concept art? The course will examine the emergence of the monumental art of the Middle Ages with the passage of the millennium with reference to three main units: the art Ottonian, Romanesque and Gothic chapter also examines parallel processes Middle Byzantine art. Art work will be analyzed in light of changes in political and intellectual circles of the Middle Ages. These will form the basis for discussion of the medieval concept of the Renaissance, the taste of the period, mysticism and rationalism in art, visions of the end of the world, doomsday, center and periphery, patronage, and more.
