The course is an analytic exploration of Henrik Ibsen's Plays as texts intended for theatrical realization. Several works representing major genres of Ibsen's oeuvre, from the Realistic to the Pre-Expressionist, will be examined as director's logbooks, as well as an implicit and explicit manuals for actors and designers. The entire constituents of the plays, considered as conditioned by their verbal conception and stage-production contexts, will be investigated as scripts for production under particular circumstances, and as rhetorical vehicles. The discussion will include video presentations and exploration of Israeli and foreign productions of Ibsen's plays.
