The course is a laboratory. Its aim is to drill acting students and develop their ability to carry, simply and fully, the intent of Shakespeare's complex texts, and learn how to direct them with a precision to their interlocutor in the scene – as well as sharpen their perception of the interactions between the characters, which spin the plot of separate scenes and whole plays, and develop their ability to fulfil and sustain them from moment to moment. They also learn and exercise to decipher the moves of the characters un the space which those plays where written for, as well as experience addressing the audience in monologues and asides. The course is conducted most of the year in the round, and opens up to stage/audience towards the end.
