The course offers keys for practical dramaturgy of canonical plays, with an emphasis on translating the written text into stage images. The course will focus on two giants of modern drama: Anton Chekhov and Federico García Lorca.
By studying some of their plays, we shell try to formulate modes of dramaturgy of Chekhov and Lorca, focusing on research of potential images reflected in the two playwright's dramatic choices. While doing so, we shall discuss dramatic models, construction of dramatic space and time, dramatic action, and so forth.
