Course description
The course Speech in Action and Story-Telling Theatre deals with the performative combination of showing and telling. This mode creates tensions of various kinds –entailing and exposing the gap between performers' bare identity as well as subjective or social identity; evoking imagination and imagery while estranging the stage action and its mechanisms. Speech in action and story-telling theatre are not limited to a formal and generic classification, but rather function as an ideological choice significantly expresses the represented event and its circumstances. In the course we shall discuss these principal aspects while studying historical and cultural models and analyzing case studies, especially from the local field of theatre and performance.
