Applied theatre, is a broad term used to describe inter and multi-disciplinary practices which make use of theatrical and dramatic tools for intervention and facilitation of social, political, educational and rehabilitational processes such as: personal and community empowerment, intergroup dialogue, conflict management, human rights, democratic education etc. The dramatic space provides a "neutral zone" where the conditions of reality- time and space, are set aside from everyday reality enabling an inquiry into interpersonal and intergroup processes using "role taking", and "leaping" between the real and the fictional. The course will analyze social-theatrical processes that take place in this "neutral zone".
