The phenomenon of reflexive performance, in its basic sense, is expressed through self-aware theatrical, performative and artistic manifestations, looking at their own reflection like the mythical Narcissus, such as theatre within theatre. In a broader and fascinating sense, reflexivity is a dimension of all artistic manifestations. This seminar – illustrating its themes through theatre, performance and other media – offers definitions and typology, as well as a critical discussion of central issues related to reflexive performance and its manifestations. In the seminar we will problematize this central and vivid issue and extend its significance.
