Course description

This seminar explores the meaning of museum experience and the possibilities within it. It provides a critical examination of different curatorial approaches, an analysis of their various functions, and an examination of the experiences they produce. The seminar comprises a series of lectures and visits to local museums and gallery spaces. In this seminar, we will examine the goals, structures, and effects of different types of exhibitions: the art exhibition (the white cube), the interactive exhibition, the educational exhibition, the community gallery and the exhibition as a platform (curating after the social turn). At the same time, students will learn about the curatorial process and its many stages, including conceptualization, research, planning and producing an exhibition
