The Israeli Citizenship official curriculum in state schools is subject to a severe professional and political disagreement regarding its content and instruction. The opening discussion would articulate the legal struggle against the new citizenship reader for students and track the conceptual developments which are under dispute and bear legal meaning. Following discussions will focus on polemic topics of the curriculum, for instance: How much coercion is legitimate in liberal democracy? Why does the state insist on core curriculum for sectarian groups that reject it? What are the arguments in favor of limiting civil rights? What differs discrimination from relevant distinctions? Education students for all subjects are welcome and no prior knowledge in law is required. The discussions would focus as much as possible in the educational arena and in concrete schools' issues.
