Geographic perspectives of the Middle East  (0691229201)
Syllabus: The course will focus on environmental, cultural and political foundations of the modern Middle East . We will pay attention to geographic perspectives such as, the natural resources of the region, and to  ideas diffusion through the region over time. Selected regional issues will be addressed, such as population growth and diversity (ethnicity, religion, economic situation), economic dimensions of oil, management of environmental problems such as water scarcity and the region as a part of global processes.
