The course will examine the development of core ideas and values in the Confucian tradition from historical and philosophical perspectives. The first part of the course will introduce the philosophical, moral and interpretative aspects of classical Confucianism and later Confucian thinkers. In the second part we will focus on contemporary studies which deal with the questions of how one should apply and practice the ancient wisdom of Confucius in our world today, here and now.
