Course description
Myths have developed in most of the cultures, and make an integral part of our heritage and our world. Numerous scholars, fascinated by these stories, have proposed various explanations regarding the functions and origins of these myths. Over the course, we will be acquainted with a selection of central world myths, and examine them in their cultural and historical context. We will observe the way myths molded and reflected beliefs and practices in ancient cultures, and see how they were represented in art. Although myths came into being thousands of years ago, some of their aspects seem to remain relevant in our modern age and society.
