Prerequisites: Methods Engineering

Course Objectives: Understanding the cognitive characteristics of the human user in terms of information processing. Introduction to topics pertaining to cognitive aspects of human factors engineering. Introduction to advanced topics in the design of interactive systems. Appling the tools and material taught in class in the evaluation and design of interactive systems.

Topics:
The course provides an introductory to cognitive aspects of human factors engineering and deals with different approaches for the design and evaluation of human computer systems. The course will present cognitive characteristics of the user (memory, perception, learning and decision making), techniques and methods for the design and evaluations of human computer systems, human error, various complex systems and systems designed to be operated in groups. The course will combine theoretical material with concrete examples of design processes as been implemented in a number of systems.
