Prerequisites : Statics of Rigid Bodies; Ordinary Differential Equations
Stress : Transformation laws, principal stress, stationary shear stresses. Strain : Transformation laws, principal stress, maximum shear strains. Material behavior : Hooke’s law, elasto-plastic materials. Axial stresses in rods. Axial thermal stresses. Indeterminate problems. Torsion of rods having circular cross-sections. Symmetric bending of beams. Elastic-plastic beam problems.
