Theoretical and practical background, Basic concepts and a brief history, Different types of mass spectrometers: sectors, analyzers and detectors. Ionization techniques and their applications in real world research problems based on structure, molecular weight, functional groups etc. Method development and quantitative analysis. Applications in a variety of fields such as: Organic chemistry, Forensic science, Analytical chemistry, Amino acid sequencing, Medical diagnostics, Metabolomics, Drug Pharmacokinetics, Polymer science, Isotope analysis.
