Course description

Movement and land-use planning in an urban environment

In light of the importance of the built environment’s properties and spatial structure for the function, dynamics and liveability of cities, this course deals with the relationship between the spatial structure of road network, land use patterns  and movement, especially non-motorized movement (walking and cycling). These issues are central in the current planning discourse. The aim of the course is to acquire experience in planning of land uses and non-motorized movement paths, taking into account the spatial-morphological, functional and social properties of the urban environment, and to implement knowledge and analysis methods in this respect. The planning project will be conducted in the city of Tel Aviv with the cooperation of municipal planners.
