Urban Planning   

Focusing on urban planning, this course addresses the central problems, ideas approaches and methodologies used by contemporary planners. Particular emphasis is given planning dilemmas. Particular emphasis is given to contemporary dilemmas and crisis in the development and design of cities.

Course assignments: Students are responsible for submitting a short commentary on one paper. This paper should consist of limited summary, focusing instead on an evaluation of the readings (their strengths and limitations, the key issues, etc.). Student should be prepared a 15 minutes presentation of the reading and identify key arguments and questions.

Obligatory presence in class
Paper presentation and summary (25%)
Exam (75%)
