בקורס זה נדון במגורים הפרטיים בתקופת הרנסנס – הארמון (Palazzo) העירוני והווילה (Villa) מחוץ לעיר - תוך התיחסות להיבטים חברתיים-תרבותיים ופוליטיים.
במסגרת השיעור נעסוק בשלושה אספקטים של הארמון והווילה הפרטיים:
1. שפת האדריכלות, כולל: הכרות עם האדריכלים המובילים ותפיסתם האדריכלית; רעיונות מרכזיים בתיאוריות של האדריכלות; איפיונים סיגנוניים. יבחנו מקורות ההשראה החזותיים והספרותיים ליצירות, והשפעת אדריכלי הרנסנס על הדורות הבאים.
2. קישוטו הפנימי של הבית (ציורי קיר, פיסול וכד'), כולל: הכרות עם האמנים השונים; דיון בתכניות האיקונוגרפיות; בחינה של מאפיינים סיגנוניים.
3. תפיסת הגן הפרטי של הרנסנס: מבנה, פיסול, מזרקות וכד'.
The course will examine the domiciles in the Renaissance, within the social-cultural and political contexts. The course will relate to three aspects of the private palaces and villas :
· Architectural language, including acquaintance with the most prominent architects and their architectural ideas; central theories in architecture; and stylistic characteristics. We shall examine the visual and literary sources of inspiration, and the influence of the Renaissance architect on the generations that followed.
· Interior decoration of the domestic buildings (frescoes, sculptures, etc.), including acquaintance with the various artists; discussion of the iconographic programs; and a study of stylistic characteristics.
· The idea of the private garden: structure, sculptures, fountains, etc.
