The course is intended for Composition and Conducting students.
The course combines the analytical discipline with few compositional exercises assigned to the students. During the course a wide array of works from different times and styles is studied and analyzed in class. In the first semester the focus is mainly on short pieces in order to detect clearly the idea, as felt through the grasping of the piece, and its material realization in sound. In the second semester, the analyzed repertoire is of greater dimension and includes multi-movement works. The works created by the students, as assigned to them according to a number of models studied, are brought to be discussed in class towards the end of semesters.
