Studying and exploring the influence of popular elements such as folk, jazz and pop
music in our classical Canon. Beginning with popular dance in Bach, dance and
gypsy for Haydn and Mozart, to Shaker tunes for Aaron Copland, jazz for Ravel and
Milton Babbitt, and rock for Michael Gordon to many a current composer---there has
been a creative bridge between the high and popular art since began.
