The course will provide an introduction to the great poetic treasures of medival times. Most lectures will be dedicated to an acqaintance with medieval Hebrew poetry, beginning with early liturgical poetry (Piyyut). Other lectures will discuss medieval poetry from other cultures, mainly from the middle east and Europe.
