Natural sciences are based on empirical facts and methods while the humanities are based on interpretation. What is the difference between researches which based on methods and ones that based on interpretation? Is method a kind of interpretation? Is interpretation a kind of method? Do method and interpretation assume different concepts of truth?
During the course, we will discuss certain modern views concerning these issues: Carnap's, Popper's and Kuhn's philosophy of science, Husserl's phenomenology, Foucault's discourse, and Gadamer's hermeneutics.
