The American continent was the first region to be integrated into newborn global capitalism and to be shaped into a periphery of the European Atlantic centers, they still undergoing formation. However, there is a visible contrast between integration and the consistent struggles for social justice in Latin America over the XX century. The aims of the course are to explain this contrast between capitalist development and the social justice struggles' history during the years 1900-2000.
