Course description
This course aims to follow the producers of Palestinian literary and visual
expressions as they navigate the lines between the political and the
aesthetic and inquire as to how these categories inform their ethics.
Students will ethnographically investigate artists and their works in
various genres: poetry, plays, novels, novellas, essays, and films from both
within the homeland and its exiles. They will encounter how artists confront
Palestine as a place for remembering, witnessing, and intervening in a world
bent on forgetting.
