Course description

The course will focus on two main subjects:

  1. Directing students will practice and acquire terminology about the designs of actors’ movement on stage: size, range, characterization, and movement in relation to space and to other bodies in space.
  2. The students will acquire tools to design movement on stage: creating a location through movement, walking on the stage, pausing, entrances and exits, distances and vectors through space.

The first part of the course will be "hands-on" practice in movement. In the second part of the course we will concentrate on gaining the practical skills needed to design movement in space. At the end of the course students will be required to present a scene based on the materials learned in the course.
