Course description
How can one understand the religious phenomenon? How can we define the relationship between religion and rationality? What is the place of personal experience in the study of religion? The purpose of the tutorial class is to jointly study the writings of major scholars and provide a toolbox for future studies. We will encounter age-old questions along with questions that arise with the modern and postmodern worlds. The first part of the class will be dedicated to the philosophy and psychology of religion, whereas in the second part we will focus mostly on sociology and anthropology, adding local context to the discussion.
