Course description

Under the ideology of “the negation of the Galut” the historiography of Hebrew literature concentrated mainly on its Zionist aspects and narrative. My lecture will focus on diasporic aspects of this canonical corpus which remained neglected, even silenced. How did the major writers cope with, memory, immigration, other spaces and languages while living in Israel? My reading in literary texts will be accompanied by reading a few theoretical works on the question of diasporic literature.
