This course conducts thorough reading of literary theoretical modern texts. Additionally, it will discuss themes which have preoccupied Arab intellectuals and critics in the 20th century, especially in Arabic literature and language. Students will deal investigate different types of scholarly texts: academic, literary criticism, analytical, historical, etc. We will analyze the styles and structures of these texts and trace the development of certain debates in time. This focus aims to provide students with tools for analysis and criticism.
