Course description

The course provides indispensable tools which enables students to examine and study the various sources which the research of Islam is based upon. The course will discuss the Islamic sources (Quran, early Muslim tradition and poetry) as well as the Jewish and Christian scriptures that had influenced the formation of the Islamic religion. Throughout the course different approaches to the study of Islam will be discussed.The skills acquired during this course will be applied in a summarizing paper of textual research.
